Emma Luker

Emma is a performing violinist, session player and teacher, in a range of different styles from contemporary and original recordings, to Classical and Baroque. Emma completed her violin studies at the Elder Conservatorium in 2003, but was already off playing some different music! During her degree and until 2007 she toured Canada, New Zealand and the U.K. as a member of contemporary folk band Colcannon.

Emma has toured and recorded with Eric Bogle and has performed with Victorian political singer/songwriter Judy Small. She’s also been seen around Adelaide and at interstate festivals playing with songwriter and guitarist Soursob Bob, with whom she has recorded three CD’s so far, as well as Bosnian guitarist Dido Durmanovic, with whom she released a debut CD in 2007.

As a session musician, Emma has appeared on over 30 albums, including The Huckleberry Swedes album produced by Jim Moginie (Midnight Oil). As a member of the Fiddle Chicks, who she officially joined in 2006, Emma won the SA Folk Federation’s Best Instrumentalist of the Year award for 2006 and 2007.

Emma is the latest addition to the Akoustic Odyssey fold, replacing original violinist Ingrid Wangel in early 2008.
